Jamaica’s first medical ganja company unveils products

Medicanja, which was launched in December 2013, will unveil medicinal cannabis products and delivery mechanisms under the theme “Innovations by Medicanja: Products, Technologies, and Services” at the Eden Gardens Resort and Spa in Kingston beginning at 7:00 pm

Medicanja’s Founder and CEO, Dr Henry Lowe has for years been one of Jamaica's leading researchers, looking into the medicinal value of various plants, including cannabis.

“Our research team has worked diligently to create an array of cannabis-based medicines to manage a range of medical conditions and improve quality of life,” Dr Lowe said.

Phillip Paulwell, Minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining (STEM) will be the guest speaker at the function.

Former Prime Minister P J Patterson and Professor Archibald McDonald, Principal of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona will also be in attendance.

The company has created cannabis-based medications to help with a variety of medical problems.

Medicanja hopes to capitalise on the approximately US$7 billion export market for ganja-based products.

The main markets being eyed now are the US and Canada, but there are also opportunities in the Caribbean, China and Asia, with Europe developing a market for the export of a number of products, including seeds.
