After a hard week at work, nothing picks you up like test driving a luxury vehicle - BMW series to be exact. Car enthusiasts were in automotive heaven a few weeks ago when BMW in collaboration with National Commercial Bank (NCB) Automobile Loans showed off the new BMW 1 Series Coupe in the NCB Atrium Car Park.
They introduced the ideal way to experience total luxury, and car lovers came out early but had a bit of a wait until the official unveiling. Guests took the opportunity to look at and even test drive the other luxury cars in the BMW family including the X5, 5231 and 3201.
From hatchback and to sports utility to convertible, the offering was diverse though the price tags did raise a few eyebrows. To survive the midday heat, an air conditioned hospitality tent was provided, all decked out with plush carpeting, sofas and even a waterfall. Shortly after midday, Miss Jamaica Universe April Jackson did the honours and rolled back the covering to reveal the much anticipated vehicle. As Jackson had recently won for herself a BMW hatchback, it was only fitting that she got to do the honours.
Immediately some of the men started taking pictures on their camera phones, replacing screensavers of their girlfriends and wives with that of the 2008 BMW 1 Series Coupe. Car enthusiasts who opened the frameless door were eager to climb into one of the four perfectly sculpted seats. The optional sports steering wheel, short gear lever, circular instruments and high-quality materials were all as eye-catching as they were functional.
For those who love sports-style driving, taking a seat in the BMW 1 Series Coupé felt like coming home. In addition to the expected luxury features, the coupe boasts impressive low fuel consumption, Brake Energy Regeneration and the world’s first six cylinder in-line engine with Twin Turbo technology.
