Who is Afraid of the 'Blackheart Man'
Yuh memba as a child when yuh parents use to tell yuh fi watch out fi di ‘Blackheart Man’ and run if you see him.

 

Well this sinister legendary figure also known as ‘Black Art Man’ was supposedly a sorcerer who travels up and down the countryside looking for children so he can cut out their hearts and use it for evil purposes. 

 

The threat of the Black-heart Man was used as a way of warning children to be careful in accepting gifts from or having anything to do with strangers on the road. The term is also applied to an obeah-man.  ‘Blackheart Man’ was the name of a popular song and album by reggae artist Bunny Wailer who sang
