Appleton Treasure Isle, and more recently the Red Stripe/Absolute Temptation Isle, is what the Negril beach has been transformed into every Emancipation/Independence weekend for the past 5 years.

From the Thursday/Friday to the Monday, Negril hosts some of the most exciting and incredible parties from the afternoon to the night (and early morning!). To get an idea of how much partying is done in these three to four days, here's this year's line-up: Pretty in Pink, Tempted (Delano's Birthday Party), Xtreme Wet n Wild, Twisted Spiritz, Daydreams, Stages, Colours, Appleton J'ouvert, Yush & Spiritz, Wildsides, Over Chill, Rhythm and Booze, M.I.A., Fusion, Fever and Juicey. These names alone suggest outrageous party experiences.

One of the best things about A.TI./R.T.I. (apart from the warm sun, white-sandy beaches, and being in your own hotel room!) is the amount of effort the promoters put into making their events top notch. Events such as Stages boast first class decorations, catering (last year they provided four different buffets of varying cuisine, from jerk to sushi) and entertainment (I will never forget the year when they brought in a live act of acrobats tumbling through fire rings or set off fireworks).

The hottest themes are incorporated into parties such as Xtreme Wet n Wild held at the Kool Runnings Water Park and Appleton J'ouvert and Colours, which are both J'ouvert and Carnival themed parties. Other parties such Rhythym and Booze, Juicey and Twisted Spiritz, are town events which are brought to the seven mile beach to be stepped up a notch to give all patrons the best party experience possible.

The most important factor which makes this weekend so incredible is the nature of the patrons. There is a certain vibe given by all of these party animals which makes AT.I./R.T.I. the famous party weekend that it is. All those there for the weekend make sure they party in the hottest wear and gear. And not one person is going to not act like they aren't enjoying themselves, you can probably count on one hand the amount of persons not dancing.

I don't think anyone who attended Twisted Spiritz last year will forgot the young lady who took it upon herself to climb upon the bar tops and start dancing and gave everyone a show. After taking advantage of the all-inclusive aspect of these events, things don't always stay so PG Rated. But that's part of what makes it so entertaining!

For any young person in their teens and their twenties, I would highly recommend finding your way down to Negril this July 31st to August 4th. It will easily become the highlight of your summer, and at the end you will find yourself yearning for that same time next year to do it all over again.
