Strong turnout for Color Festival PDF Print E-mail

The recently concluded Color Festival saw the organisers switching sponsors and venue, however, their fans remained loyal.

The main beverages were Appleton, Wray & Nephew White Rum, Pepsi and Ting and the only thing missing from this package was more beverages, as patrons emptied the bars by 11 p.m.

Patrons had to be over 18 to enter the venue and the officials at the gate were as strict as ever, ensuring that all patrons displayed IDs before entering the venue.

Popular acts like DJ Kurt Riley, DJ Sanjay, Titan Sound from Trinidad and internationally renowned EDM DJ/producer DJ Baby Drew, received strong responses for their selections.

Baby Drew's selections in particular were relatively new to the audience, however, they still jumped and waved when commanded to do so by the EDM stalwart.

Trinidad's Titan Sound showed major growth, appearing to finally understand how to rock a Jamaican crowd. They did a good job at mixing old and new soca songs - patrons rewarding them with roars of approval.

DJ Kurt Riley returned to stamp his authority, notably by juggling major hits from the likes of Elephant Man, Vybz Kartel, Ding Dong, Bling Dawg and RDX, among others. DJ Sanjay was performing on home turf and he, too, gave a good account of himself, as he had patrons dancing with each other until sweat covered their bodies.

Color Festival is known to dabble predominantly with soca and EDM genres.

The venue was decorated to give patrons its usual futuristic feel, outfitted with huge screens showing moving images. However, the venue was huge and more gadgets from sponsors would have added to the production quality.
