According to Billboard's website, the Cheerleader remix had the most popular song based on cumulative performance on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 chart from Memorial Day (May 25) holiday in the United States through Labour Day (September 7).

To achieve this feat, OMI managed to soar ahead of Wiz Khalifa's See You Again, Taylor Swift's Bad Blood and The Weeknd's Can't Feel My Face.

OMI is the third rookie act to get the top song of the summer with a first Hot 100 hit in the last four years. He is also the first male to earn the honour with a debut Hot 100 hit in Billboard's 30-year archive of top summer tracks.

Felix Jaehn's remix of Cheerleader spurred the song to the top of several charts across the world. Billboard also reports that 87 per cent of the song's 2.2 million downloads were purchased during the 'Song Of The Summer' tracking weeks.

Originally released in 2012, the song has continued to reap success. The song was certified four times platinum on the Swedish national record chart and also topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts for several weeks.
