Guiness sounds of greatness returns

After years of influencing the sound system culture in Jamaica, Guinness Sounds of Greatness is back! The launch party, which took place recently, saw thousands converge on the Red Stripe Oval, eager to get a taste of the GSOG excitement.

Just before the sound clash, host for the competition, Badda Bling, kept the crowd going as he and his DJ counterpart played tunes that had patrons vibing, dancing and singing away.

The Guinness promotional dancers never failed to please with their well-choreographed routines. They, however, had their work cut out for them when the Swa Twin girls joined them onstage for a dance-off to Razor B's single, Hot Up.

The highlight of the night was the clash between Bad Influence and Baby Wayne Movements, which kicked off around midnight and, by then, there was hardly any space to move about as members of the surrounding communities flocked the grounds in support of the event.

The first two rounds went to Bad influence, who got off to a winning start. However, it seemed as if Baby Wayne was just warming up, as they stole every round after and won the 10-round clash 8 to 2.

Imru James, Guinness spokesperson, said, "Sounds of Greatness has been a highly recognised event throughout the communities. It has been the platform on which sounds systems, DJs and Guinness have been able to reach into areas that most companies are not able to. Guinness has associated its brand with events that have aided in community development, and we continue to do so with the Sounds of Greatness campaign."

Sixteen sounds will be competing for the coveted title of the 2015 Guinness Sounds of Greatness champion.
