Three gold medals for Jamaica PDF Print E-mail

Jamaica's athletes secured three relay gold medals on the final day of track & field competition at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland on Saturday.

The gold medals came in the women's 400 metre and 100 metre relays and in the men's 100 metre relay. The Jamaican men placed fourth in their 400 metre relay.

Saturday's victories took Jamaica's overall medal haul (including 10 gold) to 21, just one short of the country's highest medal count in the history of the Commonwealth Games.

For many who turned out on Saturday, the highlight of the day was the appearance of Jamaicas champion sprinter, Usain Bolt, to anchor the men's 4x100 relay to victory. He duly obliged, and in the process took his team to a new Commonwealth Games record time.

Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce anchored her 100M relay team to a Commonwealth Games record winning time. The victorious 400m relay team was anchored by Stephanie McPherson, the winner of the individual event earlier in the Games.
