Olympic 200m champion Allyson Felix has withdrawn from tomorrow's IAAF World Challenge Jamaica International Invitational meet, where she was down to face World champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

Felix, according to a release submitted by meet organisers yesterday, has pulled out due to injury, meaning that track fans in Jamaica and around the world will have to wait a while longer before seeing a 200m clash that has taken on greater significance since both squared off at the 2012 London Olympics.

It was Felix, who took top honours then, with Fraser-Pryce following her to the line in what was her first crack at the half-lap event at a major championships. Fraser-Pryce stormed back to claim gold at the World Championships last year, as Felix failed to finish, tearing her hamstring and crashing to the Mondo.

"The IAAF WC/Jamaica International Invitational Meet Organising Committee wishes to inform the public with much regret that Allyson Felix has pulled out of the 11th staging of the Jamaica International Invitational meet, due to injuries. The meet will include many international track and field superstars such as Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Justin Gatlin, Nesta Carter, Felix Sanchez and World indoor shot put gold medallist Ryan Whiting, who are also set to compete at the event," read the organisers' release.
