Gospel Song Competition eliminations kicks off February 6

The first audition/elimination round for the 2014 JCDC Jamaica Gospel Song Competition kicks off in Central Jamaica this Thursday, February 6 at the St. Mark’s Anglican Church Hall in Mandeville, Manchester starting at 9:00 a.m.

Entrants from the parishes of St. Elizabeth, Manchester and Clarendon will vie for a place in the semi-finals round. On the spot entries will also be accepted from persons who missed the deadline.

The Jamaica Gospel Song competition for over twenty-five (25) years have helped the JCDC to achieve its mandate to unearth, develop and showcase the creative talents and expression of the Jamaican people. This competition inspires and fosters spiritual development, while encouraging writers and vocalists to challenge themselves in thriving to become the best new artiste/writer of the year. It is a two pronged competition which encourages song writers and performers to express themselves utilizing any genre of music to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Entrants who are not successful in the first elimination have another opportunity to audition at one of the other locations; however they must do so with a different song. It should also be noted that the writer of the song does not have to be the performer; however the writer may perform his/her own song.

Eliminations will continue in the Northern Region at the Port Maria Anglican Church Hall on Thursday, February 13, then the Western Region comes alive with the high energy audition on Thursday, February, 20 at the St. John’s Action Centre in Montego Bay, St. James and the final stop will be at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on Thursday, February 27. All auditions start at 9:00a.m.
