|‘MEK IT AN SHARE IT’ for Children at Christmas|
In the true spirit of Christmas, the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), through its Visual Arts Competition & Exhibition has launched the “Mek It An’ Share It” Initiative.
This programme invites the public to donate handmade gifts of toys, linens, clothing, greeting cards and other items for children aged 9-18 years old that will be distributed to children in Government-owned Child Care Facilities in the Child Development Agency (CDA) Western Region.
According to Mrs. Sana Rose-Savage, JCDC Visual Arts Specialist, “the aim of this gesture is to bring the personal touch of handmade gifts and encourage the spirit of gift-giving at Christmas.” She also stated that at least 80% of the items must be hand-made. She also indicated that a box for collection of the items will be provided at the Jamaica Visual Arts Exhibition, currently being held at the Jamaica Conference Centre, downtown Kingston. Persons may make their donations between December 8-18, 2013.
