Jury rejects appeal against Jamaica 4x400m female team PDF Print E-mail

The Jury of Appeal met to discuss the appeal of the Jamaican Team against the disqualification of the Women’s 4x400m Relay in Round 1, Heat 3 for lane infringement

 

The appeal was was rejected.

 

The result stands, with Jamaica disqualified and the Ukraine advancing to the next round.

 

The team of Rosemarie Whyte, Kaliese Spencer, Anastasia Le-Roy and Christine Day, crossed the line in 3:25.25 behind Russia.

 

The lane violation is said to take place on the opening leg after which, the track referee statement said “The Referee examined the video of the race and disqualified the Jamaican Team under rule 16.3. (lane violation).”

 

According to earlier reports, which was initially communicated by the Technical Information Centre, about Ukrainian was incorrect.

 

“The Ukrainian Team had not filed a protest. It was the Referee who, after seeing the video of the race several times, including on the giant video board in the stadium, decided to disqualify the Jamaican team,” the IAAF said in a statement.
