Blake, VCB For Edmonton Classic |
Jamaican sprinters Yohan Blake and Veronica Campbell-Brown will headline the Edmonton International Track Classic on June 29.
IAAF World 100m champion Blake will be returning to the event for a second straight year, but for Campbell-Brown it will be her first appearance at a track-and-field meet in Canada.
"I am very happy to be coming back to Edmonton and am looking forward to breaking the 10-second barrier in front of some of the best fans in the world," Blake said in a release.
Blake won the 100-metre final last year in Edmonton with a time of 10.05 seconds. Blake, who won double Olympic Games sprint silver medals last year, is currently nursing a hamstring injury, sustained during the UTech Classic two Saturdays ago at the National Stadium in Jamaica.
Campbell-Brown will make her Canadian debut at the event, the third of five stops in the 2013 National Track League series.
