Bolt booked for Zurich

The world's fastest man, Usain Bolt, is not planning any holidays immediately after what he hopes will be a successful IAAF World Championships in Athletics campaign, yesterday announcing the Zurich Diamond League as his first outing after the August 10 - 18 championships.

Bolt, who through a statement on the IAAF website confirmed his appearance at the August 29 meet set for Switzerland's largest city, said he was eager to once again compete at the meet and participate in all the usual build-up events.

"I am excited to go back to Zurich," said Bolt. "I love the electric atmosphere at the stadium and both the competition and the events during the week of the meeting are always extremely well-organised."

The 26-year-old is yet to decide on whether or not he will be competing in the 100m or 200m in Zurich, stating that he will make that decision closer to the date of the actual meet.

Bolt's appearance will be his first outing after the IAAF World Championships scheduled for Moscow from August 10-18, where he will be hoping to regain the world title he lost to training partner Yohan Blake in Daegu, South Korea, in 2011.

The sprinter, who recently opened his 100m account this season with a laboured 10.09 seconds win at the Cayman Islands Invitational last week, was ejected from the 100m final in Daegu at the last World Championships after false starting.

He returned to successfully defend his 200m world title.

The big Jamaican stormed back in 2012, becoming the first man to successfully defend an Olympic sprint double after commanding victories in the 100m and 200m at the London Games.

He is the world record holder in both events with a 9.58 mark in the 100m and a 19.19 time in the 200m. Both records were set at the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Germany.

Bolt won last year's 200 metres at Zurich in 19.66 seconds.
