How to Make Your Water Safe After a Hurricane or Tropical Storm PDF Print E-mail

Your normal water supply is usually affected after the passing of a hurricane or tropical storm.

 

As such water must be treated to make sure it is safe to be used for such activities as: drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making ice, making drinks, preparing food, and washing dishes and utensils

 

 To make 1Litre (1 Quart) of water safe

1.      Add 2 drops of bleach to 1 litre (1 quart) of water.

2.      Shake well.

3.      Leave for ½ hour.

 

 To make 5Litres (1 US Gallon) of water safe

1.      Add 8 drops of bleach to 5 litre (1 US Gallon) of water.

2.      Shake well.

3.      Leave for ½ hour.
