Bolt leads Jamaica to relay world record

The Jamaican superstar anchored Jamaica to victory in the 4x100 relay Saturday in a world-record 36.84 at Olympic Stadium to capture his third gold medal of the London Games.

He's unbeaten as an Olympian, winning the 100, 200 and 4x100 relay at back-to-back Games.

Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Yohan Blake— the silver medalist at 100 and 200 — and Bolt.

At the Beijing 2008 Games, Jamaican Usain Bolt captivated the audience with his smile and his amazing sprinting. He went on to win the 100m, the 200m and the 4x100 relay Olympic titles, setting new world records in all three events (9.72 seconds in the 100m, 19.30 seconds in the 200m and along with the Jamaican team 37.10 seconds in the 4x100m relay). Bolt became the first athlete to set three world records at a single edition of the Olympic Games.

The U.S. lineup of Trell Kimmons, Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay and Ryan Bailey finished second at 37.04, tying the old world record.

Bailey had a slight advantage when he took the stick from Gay, but Bolt, being Bolt, blew past him and into bedlam.

There was a delay of a couple of minutes before the official results were posted because of a challenge. Canada, which initially came across in third place, was disqualified, elevating Trinidad to the bronze medal.

Bolt has been talking all week about becoming a legend.

The head of the IAAF, Lamine Diack, agrees, saying Bolt "entered the legendary" after retaining his Olympic titles in the 100 and 200.

The games' head organizer, Sebastian Coe, called Bolt "a powerful influence."

Coe also has no problem with Bolt's showmanship and says, "It's great that our sport captures those great moments."
