Government pledges J$1 million to assist degenerative children PDF Print E-mail

The Government of Jamaica has pledged J$1 million support to the Menzies family whose three children suffer a neuro-degenerative disorder.

The announcement was made at this morning’s (Jan 20) National Leadership Prayer Breakfast at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel by Prime Minister Bruce Golding where he read the first lesson.

The Menzies family is from St. Ann. The children, ages- nine; five and four; were born healthy but now suffer from neuro-degenerative disorder- a diverse group of rare diseases which causes loss of speech, hearing, vision, intellect and strength.

Persons wishing to pledge support to the Menzies family can make donations to the Victoria Mutual Building Society account 22684518 or the Bank of Nova Scotia account # 809214.

The National Leadership Prayer Breakfast brings together the nation’s leaders for prayer and fellowship. The first National Leadership Prayer Breakfast was held in January 1981. It arose out of the Church’s concern for peace, justice, reconciliation and unity in the nation.
