U.S. Embassy in Jamaica announces call for proposals PDF Print E-mail

The U.S. Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica is currently accepting proposals for funding through the 2010 Ambassador’s HIV Prevention Program.

The Ambassador’s Program is part of the larger President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the largest effort by any nation to combat a single disease, which was launched in 2003 by President George Bush. PEPFAR, and by extension, the Ambassador’s Program, focuses on prevention, care, and treatment programs for HIV/AIDS.

Program or project proposals for the Ambassador’s Program should focus on community-based activities to increase awareness of and combat HIV/AIDS, and should encourage communities to cooperate in fighting the epidemic. This can include activities that reduce stigmas and discrimination, enlist involvement of persons living with HIV/AIDS, or provide education and outreach to most at-risk populations. Grants are awarded in amounts of $10,000 to $20,000 USD and proposals can be submitted by community-based organizations, local registered non-governmental organizations, faith-based organizations, clubs and service organizations, individuals, or the host government.

Interested persons should contact the U.S. Embassy at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to request a proposal application or additional information. The deadline for proposals is 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010.
