Fire Razes Rita Marley`s Ghana Residence PDF Print E-mail

Fire has reportedly razed the Ghana Akwapim Mountain recording studio and residence of Rita Marley, widow of the late reggae legend Bob Marley, news reports indicate.

Ghana`s Daily Guide reports claim fire consumed the residence Saturday causing some $20 million in damage. Rita Marley was reportedly at the residence when the fire started, having arrived in Ghana barely a week ago following a foreign trip.

The fire reportedly swept through the house and gutted the entire structure at French Line, not far from Aburi in the Akwapim South District of the Eastern Region.

Rita Marley was quoted as telling the Daily Guide that the fire was detected at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the first floor of the building, but soon spread `wildly` to the soundproof recording hall and adjoining portions of the structure.

Rita, 64,  married Bob Marley in 1966 and has 6 children.
