Flashpoint Film Festival For Port Royal |
The Caribbean's premier film festival, Flashpoint’ is to be staged in the picturesque and historic town of Port Royal from June 5 – June 8. This year the Festival will premiere four Jamaican feature length films, a first in Jamaica's history. Better Mus' Come stars award winning American writer, director, and actor, Roger Guenveur Smith, who starred alongside Denzel Washington in the screen bio-pic American Gangster. It is an explosive period film based on true events, set against the backdrop of the political turmoil of 1970s Jamaica The move from the Caves Resort in Negril, home to the Festival since its inception in 2006, is intended to make the event more accessible to the Jamaican people. Organizers of the Festival, Firefly Films, are enthusiastic about the new venue, as it also brings the event closer to Kingston, the hub of the film industry.
