Government has made arrangements to airlift Jamaicans out of Haiti starting with two Air Jamaica special flights out of Port-au-Prince tomorrow (Jan 15). The first flight is scheduled to leave Port-au-Prince at 5:30am (Jan 15) . The second Air Jamaica flight will leave at 12:00 noon tomorrow (Jan 15).

Minister with responsibility for Information, Daryl Vaz, who accompanied Prime Minister Bruce Golding and other government and rescue agency representatives to Haiti this afternoon, said all customs and immigration regulations have been suspended to allow Jamaicans in Haiti to take the flights home.

'All Jamaicans in Haiti who we could send messages to, were advised to try to get to the airport to board the first flight at 5:30 tomorrow morning. The second flight will be leaving out at 12:00noon tomorrow and all Jamaicans are being urged to make contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs so as to establish some form of communications with their families and loved ones in Haiti. There is no need for Jamaicans in Haiti to get immigration papers or documents as all these requirements have been lifted in light of the crisis in Haiti', Mr. Vaz said.

Meanwhile, the Information Minister disclosed that Prime Minister Bruce Golding is expected to host a number of Caribbean Leaders tomorrow morning (Jan 15) at Jamaica House to discuss and co-ordinate Caricom's role in the Haiti disaster. Details of the assistance from both Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean will be outlined at a special press conference at Jamaica House tomorrow at 12:00noon.
