According to The Jamaica Star (via Jalopnik), Bolt, the world record holder in the 100 meters, was invited by Douglas Gore, who competes in the Jamaica Race Driver’s Club, to a race at Dover Raceway in Jamaica. Bolt recently bought the GT-R as a replacement for the BMW M3 that he flipped on a toll road in April. The twin turbo charged Nissan GT-R is rated at 485 hp and has a top speed of 190+ mph.

“The M3 was more of a sporting sedan; I think the GT-R is probably one of the ultimate sports cars,” said Mr. Gore, who races a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V in the Modified Production Class 3. “Knowing that it is a four-wheel-drive vehicle with traction aids, it should give Bolt more control. It is easier to drive and safer at speed.”

Mr. Gore also challenged Asafa Powell, the former world record holder in the 100 meters, to participate in the “gentlemanly race.” Powell owns a Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series. – New York Times
