Jamaica PM Says No Gay Marriage Under His Watch |
Jamaica`s Prime Minister, Bruce Golding, has slammed the door shut on same sex marriage on the island.
Golding this week insisted the Jamaican parliament will not recognize same-sex marriage; at least not while has the reins.
Golding, in opening parliamentary debate on a proposed amendment to the constitution which would lay out the scope of rights and freedoms for Jamaicans, stated that his government remains opposed to the recognition, legitimization or acceptance of same-sex marriages or same-sex unions.
While he admitted the possibility of same-sex unions could happen in the future, he was adamant that it would not happen under his watch.
