Cuba questions Obama's Nobel award PDF Print E-mail

US President Barack Obama's surprise Nobel Peace Prize win rewarded his "promises and good intentions" but not concrete results, Cuba's official media said Friday.

In its first reaction to the award, Cubadebate also criticized the fact that the US House of Representatives passed a 680-billion-dollar defense authorization bill the day before.

US-Cuban relations have thawed partially since Obama took office this year.

In April, his administration lifted travel and money transfer restrictions on Cuban-Americans with relatives in the Caribbean nation.

But it has said it will not, for now, seek to end the embargo, instead urging Havana to show progress on human rights.
