Sly And Robbie - The Rhythm Twins

Even though they have been in the business for more than three decades, 'Riddim Twins' Lowell 'Sly' Dunbar and Robert 'Robbie' Shakespeare are showing no signs of slowing down, nor do they seem to plan to anytime soon.

This summer alone, the legendary duo of the drum and bass has worked on songs for Britney Spears, Madonna and Paul McCartney.

Word from One Pop and Anchor studios where the song was produced is that in August, Sly and Robbie worked on the production of a reggae remix of Britney Spears' platinum hit single Piece of Me. The remix, which from all reports did well, featured singer Cherine Anderson. It was one of six remixes of the song.

The success of the Britney remix led to the production of a remix of Madonna's Give It To Me, which also features Anderson, and was completed last month.

International songs

This was the third international song they worked on this summer. In July and August, Sir Paul McCartney required their services to work on a remix of his song Nod Your Head, which features Lady Saw, Sizzla and Anderson. That song is scheduled for release by November, the studio said.

Meantime, the duo that has worked with countless numbers of world renowned singers and bands, including Mick Jagger, Simply Red, No Doubt, Bob Dylan, Black Uhuru, Dennis Brown, Chaka Demus and Pliers, Grace Jones and Gregory Isaacs, is currently on tour with Michael Franti and the Spearheads.

The group, which has been around since the early '90s, blends hip hop and a variety of other styles including funk, reggae, jazz, folk and rock. In 1997, they released an album titled Chocolate Super Highway, which featured an appearance of Stephen Marley.

Sly and Robbie left the island recently, two weeks after completing a tour with a fusion band called Simply Stoopid. The hugely popular independent band is based in California and describes their style as a fusion of rock and blues with reggae, hip hop and punk.
