Bolt Defeats Powell

Usain Bolt brought down the curtain on his stunning season with victory in the 100m at the Van Damme Memorial meeting in Brussels.

Usain Bolt and Asafa PowellBolt was forced to come from behind to beat Asafa Powell in 9.77 seconds in a season farewell. Powell finished 9.83 seconds

The Olympic champion in his last race of the season, had a bad start and immediately saw Powell shoot ahead of him. Halfway through he pulled even with Powell and then his huge stride took over, finishing just .08 seconds off the world record he set at the Beijing. Fellow Jamaicans Nesta Carter and Michael Frater came third and fourth.

Bolt won the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay at the Beijing Olympics, setting world records in each event.

Olympic champion Pamela Jelimo, 18, clinched at least a share of the Golden League's one million dollar jackpot as she won the 800m in one minute 55.16s - more than three seconds ahead of compatriot Janeth Jepkosgei and third-placed Kenia Sinclair of Jamaica.

Victory for Croatian Blanka Vlasic in the high jump will see her share the jackpot, which is awarded to athletes who win their event in all six of the season's meets.
