Athlete's Pon Di Mike

ImageHear about Usain BoltAsafa Powell and other athletes mental readiness for the Olympic challenge... Immerse yourself in the Olympic experience with Chat-Bout, featuring sound bites of quirky interview with our athletes...

ImageOur reporter Olive McNaughton visited the Village yesterday, and contrary to the impression from many media reports.. the vibes are great. Just recently in from the Jamaican camp where a special chef provided Jamaican fare including jerk chicken, jerk pork, ackee & saltfish, together with reggae music, playing dominos, everyone appeared to be in good spirits. The culinary choices at the Olympic Village don't quite live up to that custom variety, but there is still a wide selection of eating choices Asian, Mediterranean, International and of course McDonald's which had the longest line.

I spoke to several of the athletes including top billing superstars Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell. Usain is his usual composed self, very comfortable with the trappings of stardom, while Asafa is ominously, supremely confident. Expect fireworks come 10:30pm Beijing time Saturday 16th.

Also caught up with Minsters Babsy Grange and Ed Bartlett who were visiting with the Athletes in the Village. In the setting of this potentially historic Olympics for Jamaica, there will be a special announcement relating to Tourism and Sports on Sunday, 17th. Stay tuned for that.
