Packed calendar for 49th Independence celebration PDF Print E-mail
The week of activities will kick off on Friday, July 29 at the National Indoor Sports Centre (the hub for the events) with the finals of the Festival Song Competition.

 

The following day, Saturday, July 30 it will be the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Coronation show. Sunday, July 31 the National Independence Thanksgiving Service will take place at , later on in the evening Jamaica Gospel Festival finals unfold.

 

Emancipation Day, Monday, August 1 will see the staging of yet another Emancipation Jubilee at Seville in St Ann.

Monday, August 1

8:00pm -- World Reggae Dance Championship Finals

 

Thursday, August 4

8:00pm -- Mello Go Roun'

 

Saturday, August 6

9:00 am -- Independence Day Parade, Kingston and St Andrew

9:00 am -- Western Jamaica Independence Day Civic Ceremony, St James

9:00 am -- Parish Independence Civic Ceremony, All Parishes

12:00 pm -- East Central St James Independence Gala, St James

1:00 pm -- Western Jamaica Independence Street Parade St James

5:00 pm -- Independence Grand Gala, Kingston and St Andrew

-- Independence Day Gala and Street Dance, All Parishes
