What will unfold on Dancehall Night when the annual Reggae Sumfest unleashes its arsenal on Thursday, July 21, at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in Montego Bay?

Will a 'prisoner' pop up on stage? Will a Cessna land in the venue? Who knows, a surprise award presentation might just take fans off guard!

Whatever the scenario, there is always that element of surprise during Reggae Sumfest's Dancehall Night. It's left to be seen what the promoters have up their sleeves for this year's event, and even 'Wikileeks' doesn't have information on this one.

Dancehall Night has its own supercharged energy, and the heavy hitters on the bill will ensure that fans are not short-changed.

Vybz Kartel, with his large following, seems like the pied piper of music these days, as he cannot do anything wrong for his fans.

Mavado should not be overlooked. Beenie Man just has a way with his fans and always seems to get the energy out of them. I-Octane and Assassin, the two cultural ambassadors, should easily hold their own, being the voice of the people.

The ladies will definitely not be left out on Dancehall Night, as energetic Spice will once again show that she holds her own against her male counterparts.

Ce'Cile and Tifa are no novices to the entertainment stage, so look for some lively stuff from the ladies of the dancehall.

It is left to be seen what the 'baby' of the pack Toya delivers. Her songs Boss Lady and True Blessing are currently getting a lot of love on the radio.

Fast-rising artistes

If the dancehall heavyweights are not careful, then fast-rising artistes such as Konshens, Khago, Fambo, KipRich and Laden will be hot on their heels in stealing the night for themselves.

Just who will 'bust out' from the pack of new acts?

With some promising artistes on the performance calendar, the highly critical eyes of dancehall fans will be zoning in on Seanizzle, Zamunda, Iya Blaze, Chan Dizzy and up-and-coming Food Kartel.

The event, dubbed 'the greatest show on earth', will kick off with a beach party on Sunday, July 17, at the Aquasol Theme Park in Montego Bay.

Among the sponsors for this year's three-night event are Red Stripe Bold, Jamaica Tourist Board, Digicel, Iberostar and newcomer Pepsi, along with The Gleaner Company Ltd. Early-bird ticket prices for Dancehall Night are J$2,800/US$32. At the gate it will be J$3,000 and US$35, while VIP tickets will cost J$4,500 or US$55.
