Jamaica’s young Reggae Boyz achieved their World Cup dream a short while ago by defeating Honduras 2-1 in the final quarterfinal game of the CONCACAF Under-17 Qualifiers at the Montego Bay Sports Complex in St James.
As a result of the win, host nation Jamaica became the fourth and final CONCACAF qualifier for the FIFA Under-17 Boys’ World Cup this summer in Mexico.
The other CONCACAF qualifiers are Canada, who earlier wrecked Trinidad and Tobago’s hope by defeating them 2-nil, United States and Panama.
It was the second time that Jamaica had reached the Under-17 World Cup, following qualification back in 1999 when the tournament was staged in New Zealand.
Jamaica will next face United States in the second semi-final on Friday and Canada and Panama will face off in the first semi-final. Source: Jamaica Gleaner
